Kdrama paranoia

Last seasons we’ve been having same pattern repeating in few dramas, or motif, some similar line and elements. As I said, I don’t mind same plot-line, because every drama offers a different approach to the same topic. But looks like writers just can’t think out of the box when speaking about the general settings.
Last season was plagued by better or less good time-travel motif. I liked Rooftop Prince version, other people didn’t, they liked other dramas, I didn’t. It happens.
This year, we have humanity’s fate at stake.

So, The Virus started off as a usual catastrophic series with a standard scientist that is listened by… yes, by no one. If you remember movies like Volcano, Twister, Earthquake or any other crappy catastrophic movie, you know there has to be a scientist who discovers there is a huge calamity awaiting (or alien invasion, for that matter) yet everyone have better things to do instead of panicking and maaaaybe doing something to prevent/fight it.
The End of The World drama – and according to koreandrama.org plot: “This is a drama about a unknown mysterious disease spreads. Kang Joo Heon (Yoon Je Moon) is the chief of epidemiological investigation at the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He loses his beloved to the new virus and attempts to find a critical clue through reverse tracing.
Fight for your love – check.
Emotional death of your love – check.
Lone wolf scientist – check.
Virus – check.
Humanity in danger – check.
Now we have plot of Heaven’s Order, according to Hancinema:The Joseon version of a Chaser about a medical practitioner who struggles to save his daughter from a terminal illness while being caught up in a plot to poison the human race.”
Well, don’t get me wrong, it’s not like there’s something I don’t like, I wub the plot already, but seriously – “poison the human race”?? In Joseon? When Koreans had up their arses the entire world and human races and closed themselves to any foreign contacts unless it was through Beijing court? Oh well, a crazy Joseon psychopath who thinks Koreans were the entire human race makes sense in such case.
Actually, I could go on and explain such plots with current, horribly unstable situation on the Peninsula (Virus = North Comrades) as the means to comfort yourself (defeating the virus/disease). But that would be far-fetched, right? It’s just kdrama, right?
We should be afraid, very, veeery afraid.
And this is only March, my lovely Fellowship of the Rant.
